What a blessing to be with the people of St. Andrew’s, Pasadena this morning to mark the first Sunday in Lent. The “wilderness” of this holy season can be so challenging — spiritually (and in all the ways); it is comforting and encouraging to know that Christ is fully present with us in the “harsh desert landscapes” of our lives.
The community of St. Andrew’s is living out their ministry, with God’s help, in such powerful ways. I was moved by the faithfulness and dedication of their lay leaders and had a lot of fun serving with Deacon Gail Tucker. Thanks to their rector, Fr. Jason Poling, for the invitation to preach and preside.
