Mrs. Krehnbrink was born July 5, 1923, in Baltimore. She was the daughter of Carl Gordon Kirwan and Margaret Beck Kirwan. She was preceded in death by her younger brother, Carl Gordon Kirwan, Jr., of Howard County, MD, and her younger sister, Jacqueline Chartier Kirwan Linderman, of Louisville, KY.

She graduated from Notre Dame Preparatory School and attended Westhampton College of the University of Richmond. She married Thomas Edward Krehnbrink, a paint and corrosions specialist, on March 17, 1944. During World War II, she served her country working at the Ration Board and sold war bonds. Her primary interests were home and family, but she was an active volunteer at church and the community.

She lived for over 30 years on the Magothy River and was a member of St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, Pasadena, MD, where she served on the Vestry in many capacities. She and her husband were instrumental in creating the Memorial Garden at St. Andrew’s. She was a life member of the Woman’s Club of Roland Park and served on its executive board. She was appointed to the Governor’s Board of Transportation by Governor Harry Hughes and helped make decisions regarding zoning around BWI Thurgood Marshall Airport.

Together with her husband, she thoroughly enjoyed both power and sail boating. They took multiple trips on their boat, “Patricia,” down the Intercoastal Waterway to Marathon, FL.

She and her husband moved to Heron Point, in Chestertown, Maryland in 1992. She was an active member of Emmanuel Episcopal Church of Chestertown, served as an accountant for the Heron Point Gift Shop as well as the Hospital Gift Shop. For many years she served as a volunteer for Garnett Elementary School.

In September 2007 until his death in November 2011, Patricia enjoyed a loving partnership with William Herbert Maxwell (August 31, 1914 – November 18, 2011) also of Heron Point.

She is survived by her daughter, Kathleen Kirwan Krehnbrink Polk of Annapolis and her son, Thomas Edward Krehnbrink, Jr. (Patricia) of Longneck, DE; five grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service is planned for Thursday, November 6, 2014, at 2p.m. at the Wesley Room of Heron Point of Chestertown. On Saturday, November 29, 2014, at 1 p.m. there will be a funeral service and spreading her ashes at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Emmanuel Episcopal Church in Chestertown, MD, or St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church.
