St. Andrew's News: 6 December 2020
December 5, 2020, 9:33 AM

Dear Brothers and Sisters of St. Andrew's,

Fr. Ron will be preaching and celebrating the next two Sundays, as I will be having minor foot surgery tomorrow. I ask your prayers for my recovery and my family's patience through it.

Due to the high rates of COVID in the Diocese we are being required to remain in streaming-only mode through January 1st. On that date we will celebrate the Feast of the Holy Name at 7:00 pm with Memorial Episcopal Church, Bolton Hill and their Rector, the Rev. Grey Maggiano. The Rev. Brandt Montgomery, Chaplain of St. James' School in Hagerstown, will preach.

Also, Due to the high rates of COVID in the Diocese St. Andrew's Annual Meeting will be held via Zoom on Dec 20, 2020 at 9:00 AM.

On the third Sunday of each month we take up a special offering to address the needs of hungry people in our community. We collected $553 for our November Healing Sunday offering, which was given to the food pantry at Pasadena Seventh Day Adventist. Our December Healing Sunday offering will be given to the Baltimore International Seafarers Center. You may make a special gift to the Healing Sunday offering by making a note on the memo line of your check or your electronic gift.

The Sacrament of Reconciliation (a.k.a. Confession) is always available to you, and is especially appropriate during penitential seasons like Lent and Advent. Bp. Sutton has given permission for us to hear confessions over Zoom (or phone, if you prefer); to arrange a time please contact me directly.

The Rector's Discretionary Fund enables me to work on the church's behalf to care for those in need in our community, and to support the needs of worthy ministries, as I am made aware of these needs. I am always glad to receive gifts to this fund (either electronically or by checks made out to St. Andrew's with Rector's Discretionary Fund on the memo line), especially at this time when need is increasing significantly. If you are facing job loss or a reduction in your family's income please don't hesitate to reach out to me personally.

--Fr. Jason

Annunciation

by John Donne

Salvation to all that will is nigh;

That All, which always is all everywhere,

Which cannot sin, and yet all sins must bear,

Which cannot die, yet cannot choose but die,

Lo! faithful Virgin, yields Himself to lie

In prison, in thy womb; and though He there

Can take no sin, nor thou give, yet He'll wear,

Taken from thence, flesh, which death's force may try.

Ere by the spheres time was created thou

Wast in his mind, who is thy Son, and Brother;

Whom thou conceivest, conceived; yea, thou art now

Thy Maker's maker, and thy Father's mother,

Thou has light in dark, and shutt'st in little room

Immensity, cloister'd in thy dear womb.
